domains at auction week of: april 15, 2024

the week's BEST domains at auction.

Hello, hi!

This is now a Tuesday domain newsletter.

Mondays are tough! I always spend all day writing newsletters and I don’t want to send them at 6pm on Monday night lol. Ain’t nobody reading that…

So here you go, a Tuesday domain newsletter filled with domains.

BUT WAIT. Before we get into newsletters I have a thing I want to share, and hope you’ll help me with. It’ll literally take 8 seconds.

A Domain Name Community?!

Yes, there are several free domain forums and they are… fine. Mostly fine.

But I co-own a paid SEO forum and it is thousands of miles better than free FB groups/Reddit/forums/whatever. There’s SO MUCH ACTION and SO MUCH VALUE there I’ve been like what if this, but for domains??

Somewhere you can hang out with people trying to buy/sell domains, where you can ask questions and get answers from sane people, with skin in the game, with some experience.

I’d love to build a slack group that has an application process—even if it’s a somewhat low bar like "you have to have made a $2k domain sale at minimum.

Could be a cool place to buy/sell/trade wholesale names, get feedback on outreach tactics, get feedback on your portfolio, talk about buying trends, etc. and so on.

So here’s the ask: I want to get feedback from YOU, the subscribers of this domain newsletter: is this something you’re into? Why/why not.

Here is a very quick, simple survey it’d help me GREATLY if you took a moment to fill out.

Domains That’d Make A Good Brand/Investment

(all domains are at GoDaddy auctions, none of this is financial advice, do your own due diligence and etc. — you’re not allowed to hold me responsible for any bad decisions on your part!)

Process.net - super early registration. The kind of name someone could build a very boring, very profitable business on. (FYI someone already has… on a .st?!)

Freckled.com - I like it as a fun, summer time brand. Sun-kissed. Good vibes.

GenesisBank.com - something something crypto, right? Genesis is a crypto word and bank is… a pretty universally valuable concept. Seems like a winner.

SelectOne.com - this has a crazy high GD valuation, like $10k. Why? Did a quick Google search: there are several companies called this with TERRIBLE domain names.

EpicGaming.com - while this SOUNDS like a good brand (and calls back to Epic Gardening, a very established, successful, and well-loved brand), you will probably not have much room to move if you build it out/if your domain buyer builds it out due to the existence of Epic Games, the creator of, among other things, Fortnite.

DarkWoods.com - gaming company or fiction publishing company (I own one of these: don’t do it!). Has a simple, ominous vibe that is not confusing to say or spell—no one would write it like Dark Woulds lol.

SellOrBuy.com - or whatever IDC. Good marketplace name, if you’re insane enough to try and build a two-sided marketplace from scratch. Like Rob Walling (a podcaster that I like that you should check out if you don’t know him) says: you can build a two sided marketplace if you already have a big reach to ONE side. I paraphrased it, he says it much smarter probably.

Fellow.org - positive connotation and an absolute TON of companies with shit domains are called “Fellow.” Probably a safe bet unless everyone bids it way up (spoiler alert, they’re gonna).

PlatinumMedia.com - IDK if media names are still popular, I don’t think they are. Wait, lemme actually check that with data:

I tried to just opt for the “end user” type of sales here and… there aren’t a lot… for not a lot of money. If you include expired auctions there are A LOT of sales, but that’s just domain investors taking a swing on “media” companies, most of which no one wants to buy. Allegedly.

PublicRelations.org - killer .org, I love it. Exact matches can sometimes make good brands, sometimes bad, but I think a domain like this has the potential to make a GREAT site. Just load it up full of helpful .org vibey info and then put a service layer on top: we handle your public relations because you KNOW you’re gonna slip up and say something stupid eventually… boom. Perfect combo, great build out op.

Names With Juice

WishboneAsh.com - it’s got a big price because it still ranks for a bunch of shit, and that’s as good a sign as any that the domain you’re buying to rebuild has a really really good shot at ranking. Used to be a band, it looks like?

aToken.com - crypto links

GunsToCarry.com - big media links

POBOnline.com - possibly used to be… an academic journal? Dope links…

Ebbu.com - not the highest DR, but solid links. Used to be a research company? So the rebuild opportunities here are pretty robust. Ends today.

TempleMountFaithful.org - religious juice.

SwipeLife.com - it rhymes, so it’s got that going for it. Not the best link profile I’ve ever seen though. One could still do some damage with this DR 50.

Well, that’s it for this round of literally the best domains at auction for the week.

Thanks for subscribing!

And please, if you have a moment, head over to this quick survey and fill it out, that’d be so helpful!

Until next Tues…
