🌐 Domain Discoveries #5: Yachts, Christians, and AI Domains /w Juice

the upcoming week's BEST domains at auction.

Hello from a very rainy day here in northern Vermont.

It’s been chilly and feeling like fall, but I think summer’s coming around again the back half of August.

Things have otherwise been quiet. Working on some new things (more on that below) and just being generally… watching domains—haven’t bought too much recently.

WBU? Hit reply and tell me some stuff you’ve bought recently, I’m always curious to hear about what people are buying. :)

News and Updates

Fractional Director of SEO Service

I announced this in my Tuesday newsletter—I’m offering some high-level consulting spots (mostly advising, not doing a bunch of in-the-trenches work) to people that need some SEO strategy, and have a team or do it themselves to get the actual work done.

If you’re interested you can read more about it here—first come first served, two spots left (then you get hit with the Waitlist + price increase).

Let’s go!

Might F-Around And Broker Some Domains

I’ve recently worked with a domain brokerage to both help people sell their domains AND sell some domains to the right audience, as well as acquiring their Forever Brand.

So if you:

  • have some premium names you’re looking to sell, or

  • have some names with SEO juice you wanna move, or

  • are trying to acquire a specific domain name

Hit reply and holler at me. I can probably help.

If you hit me with some real low quality names, though, I’m gonna be honest with you, so if you’re not bringing the heat prepare to be hit with the truth stick. I won’t be a dick about it or anything, just not gonna pass your domains along if I don’t think they’re gonna sell.

But yeah, holler at me. Let’s sell/buy some domains, baby!

Domain of the Week

LiveYachting.com

DR 37, 1.2k RD

This thing is ranking for hundreds of yacht keywords even as it expires (the absolute BEST indicator of future success):

I guess if you’re going to build a site and spend your time competing with competitors, spending your SEO capital on ranking for $$$$ YACHT keywords is probably a good move.

Plenty of big authority and niche relevant backlinks here (like from YachtWorld.com, which gets 1M organic visits/mo and Boats.com).

Used to be: a site that listed yachts for sale?

A great pick-up, and bidders agree! Currently a bit under $10k with a few days to go.

Domains With Juice

ICOBench.com

DR 71, 2.7k RD

This fucking guy again…

In August 2022 ICOBench finished up at GoDaddy Auctions with a face-melting $101k. The site proceeded to then do…

Absolutely nothing. Or at least, nothing my half-assed 5-minute search could find. Only two pages indexed, ranking for a COUPLE of keywords. Someone spent $101k to park this thing at GoDaddy for a year.

Galaxy brain move or…?

Anyway, I couldn’t find anything, but if you know of how someone bought this for six figs and did something cool with it that I missed, LMK. Genuinely curious.

Currently $23k

UrbanChristianNews.com

DR 32, 1.41k RD

Ranking for 716 KWs.

Not to be confused with SUBURBAN christian news… one assumes.

Price is nuts—$13K+.

That’s the power of a powerful, niche-relevant link profile on an aged domain. Damn!

SkinnyBitch.net

DR 31, 1.69k RD

Memorable domain, I guess!

Ranking for a couple of hundred weightloss/supplement related KWs:

Could be a good pickup if you’re already invested in this space.

Keep an eye on trademark issues: I did zero searches for that.

PomegranateCafe.com

DR 33, 577 RD

Ranking for some KWs. The brand name has almost 2k searches in Ahrefs—a good sign (unless there’s more than one Pom cafe, then… eh).

I’ve seen some blogs built upon restaurant websites absolutely kill it. This could be one…

Domains You Could Build A Brand On

JobStar.com

A solid 2-word brand you could build a job board on.

If you do, bit of advice: specialize that shit. Don’t try and build Indeed or Monster unless you’re ultra-well funded (in which case, call me, dawg. Maybe I can help lol).

Genom.com

Yeah it’s Genome spelled wrong, but now you can properly brand, trademark, and differentiate yourself.

I can tell you that I picked up Molecul dot com and sold it for a nice tidy sum earlier this year. Same deal.

MedicalConferences.com

Straightforward. I can tell you from experience that conferences get hella links. Buy this, put together a digital only conference, collect some amazing links, and then redirect to your medical site or whatever (or keep throwing conferences for $$$).

Could be a good directory site as well.

AthleticShop.com

Simple, straightforward ecom play. Boring, not an amazing brand, but simple > anything else sometimes…

BeekeepingSupplies.com

Same, except for with beekeeping.

Would love to have a beekeeping shop. Really feel like I’m making the world a better place.

MORE BEESE FOR ALL! BEES R FRENDS.

Domains You Could Invest In

8385.com

Another NNNN with an absolutely mad price. If you’re into that shit…

SunAI.com

Yeah, AI is so hot right now and “Sun” is never not a good brand. Probably not worth it unless you can either get or sell to Sun dot AI

Speaking of AI…

Special: AI Domains With Juice

Including some AI domains with juice this week for auction at auction.ai.whois — AKA the official AI registrar.

If you don’t know about .AI auctions, they run the last week/first week of every month. They all start at $120 or $135 or something, and some of these names go for absolutely ASTOUNDING prices.

Here are the few at auction worth mentioning (SEO-wise):

Toasty.ai

DR 52, 619 RD

Ranking for a couple hundred inconsequential keywords.

Used to be: video meeting platform.

Some decent tech links.

TheGrid.ai

DR 58, 292 RD

Some kind of music/crowd participation app.

Some more decent tech links but not as good as Toasty.

Into.ai

DR 28, 76 RD

Best brand on the list of names with juice (but not the best brand at auction: Blink dot ai is the best branded name at auction currently).

Are you Into AI?

Like that.

What it has in brandability it DOESN’T have in authority. Not a super impressive link profile, but not nothing either…

Fuzzy.ai

DR 28, 222 RD

Solid tech-y backlinks, pretty decent one-word AI name.

Used to be: an API that makes AI and machine learning easy for developers.

Shitpost Of The Week

mandatory crystals…

That’s it for this week!

Hope you found a domain here worth buying.

Remember to hit reply and talk domain-y to me.

Until next week…
